BSMON4-VL is the ultimate BLUESHAPE battery toolbox for technicians, camera rental companies, production centers and power users.
With an improved and rich user interface, this tool brings a series of functions to control, analyze and manage the camcorder battery fleet of any make and model of the 14V V-Lock and 3-Stud series. (Please note that for the 3-Stud batteries an adapter is required, which must be purchased separately).
This battery interface incorporates a 150W programmable load and a 65W external charger unit, both controlled directly by the software. This enables the user to perform different types of battery tests, even long cycle tests, with fully editable steps. All data is logged to create a consistent database of battery data including all the test sessions to better manage the battery fleet over the years.
In addition, this tool allows the user to receive remote updates from our support center with dedicated and automated customized operations.

To get instant feedback on the state of your battery, simply install it on the BSMON4-VL and read. You will quickly discover the hidden details and status of the battery, giving you an instant snapshot of the situation. You can also apply a load of up to 10A and observe the behaviour in real time. A quick chart function is available to provide an instant graphical image of the main parameters (voltages, current temperature) as they change in real time. If a battery is in a deep discharge state, the BSMON4-VL can wake it up by simply activating the charger so that the battery can be read. There are no more secrets in your battery. All batteries compatible with the BLUESHAPE BMS protocol (SMBus) can be analysed. For batteries that do not communicate, the system will only report voltage and current.
BSMON4-VL gives you a handy toolbox that can be useful in various situations. Reset: resetting the battery allows you to reboot the BMS if you find something wrong. By resetting the internal electronics, the chipset is rebooted and restarted from scratch, without losing any presets or calibrations. Clear PF: sometimes, after critical events, the BMS may block the battery, triggering permanent failure alarms. After inspecting the battery, Clearing Permanent Failure can help to fully restore battery operation. Ship Mode: Ship Mode is the safer way to prepare batteries for shipping or to store them when a long shelf life is expected: the BMS is completely deactivated, allowing the battery to enter a deep sleep mode where energy leakage is minimised to conserve power and reduce battery self-discharge. When in Ship Mode, the battery returns to normal operation simply by recharging. Lifetime: Lifetime shows the extreme working conditions experienced by the battery, either the maximum and minimum voltages, current, temperature and other interesting parameters: take a look from time to time to understand them in depth.
BSMON4-VL allows you to check that the main safety functions of the BMS are working as expected. With quick and immediate tests that take less than a minute, the tool can verify that the discharge and charge electronic protections are working properly ensuring that the battery safety is up to standard. In addition, the tool can perform a functional test to evaluate the battery's precharge ability (if implemented in the battery) and a voltage-drop test to measure the state of health of the cells and the balance under a short but large load. All tests are logged so that they can be accessed and compared from time to time.
BSMON4-VL introduces the ability to perform programmable cycle tests with fully editable procedures that are offered pre-installed, but can be modified and created as needed. Cycle tests aim to fully charge and fully discharge a battery to measure its true capacity during the various test steps, with data displayed in a live summary table and visible feedback reported in a real-time chart. Other procedures are possible, such as battery preparation for flight, where the battery capacity is brought to a state of charge below 30%. All cycle tests are logged so they can be accessed and compared at any time. Cycle testing also works with batteries that are not compatible with the BLUESHAPE data protocol, in which case only the voltage, current and capacity calculated during charge and discharge are logged.
If you need our support service to analyse and check something in your battery, or if you need to adjust your battery settings for a specific need, you can connect to us with the support tickets. When you press the Send button, full battery data, including test history, is collected on the fly and sent to us for further verification, giving you the peace of mind that comes from knowing you can rely on our support services immediately and remotely.
Our support service may periodically release important battery updates, such as critical firmware upgrades. Also, custom-made solutions required to modify a battery setting or overcome a critical condition in the battery can be created and distributed. All operations, once selected, are applied to the battery; and all you have to do is keep the battery installed on BSMON4-VL. Depending on the operation, a short charge or discharge pulse may occur, but all is automated and no other activity is required.

Each time a battery is connected, its status and parameters are logged in the application database. Over time, the amount of data can grow significantly, giving you better insight into how your batteries are aging. In addition, all safety and cycle tests performed on each battery are logged and stored. By regularly checking, reading and testing your batteries, you can ensure that over time you will have collected a significant amount of data to help you keep your battery fleet running and getting the most out of it. This unique fleet management solution is incorporated within the BSMON4-VL software.
